This is the third C-27J and carries an Italian Air Force experimental registration as it has been used for certification work. The C-27J has been designed to use the similar engines, avionics and cockpit layout to the C-130J Hercules. It was at Avalon for the Australian International Airshow and its aerobatic display routine was quite impressive.

Avalon is coming alive for the Australian International Airshow in this shot looking south towards Corio Bay from Cessna 175, VH-RFU.. All of the white buildings you can see are actually tents erected for the airshow. Normally the place is just a paddock. If you look closely, you can see a Jetstar A320 on the RPT apron, a B744 undergoing maintenance on the heavy jet apron, and an RAAF AP-3C Orion and C-130J discharging cargo alongside.

Built 1959 & allocated N6796E but ntu. Shipped to Australia & assembled by Cessna agents, Rex Aviation, Bankstown. Registered VH-RFU 2 Feb 1960 in Perth. Sold 15 Feb 1961 to Royal Aero Club of WA. Traded in to Rex & sold to private owner in Meekatharra 9 Jul 65. Sold to SA Cessna agents Rossair, Parafield, 19 Oct 72 and on-sold to private owner Port Lincoln. Various private owners in SA until sold to the late Mike Valentine 6 Dec 2000 & based Penfield, Vic. Half share acquired by me 2002.

The one and only JUKA is the great Jurgis Kairys' own design - basically an enormous engine with wings and a tail.
