The last 'true' Auster, the Beagle Terrier was a civil conversion from the military Auster AOP.6. Only 45 Terrier 2s were built, 64 Terriers in all, so this is a fairly rare aircraft. Seen here at the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's National Fly-in.

The oldest airworthy Tiger in Australia, this rare pre-War, UK-built example was registered in Australia new as VH-UVZ on 12 August 1938 to Airflite Ltd. of Mascot. It crashed into Sydney Harbour in 1937, but was re-built and later impressed into the RAAF in August 1940 as A17-691. In 1947 it was restored to the civil Register as VH-BBP, later becoming VH-PCD before being withdrawn from use in July 1961. It once again carries its original registration and since 2000 resides with the Temora Aviation Museum.

Built by DHA Mascot to RAF Empire Air Training Scheme order for South Africa or Rhodesia and allotted serial DX818. Not delivered due cessation of shipping following Japan's entry into the war and stored at No.57 Wool Store, Alexandria, Sydney with many other EATS orders. Released to RAAF as A17-631 on 26.7.43. Served with 78 Sqn Camden, 5EFTS Narromine, 8EFTS Narrandera. Post-War added to civil Register as VH-DFJ 25.3.58.

This lovely 1960-model Cessna 180 was registered new in Australia on 22 November 1960. It was withdrawn from use on 18 September 1964 (just before I was born!), but restored on 1 May 1970. Seen here at the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's National Fly-in.

The Luton Minor has its origins in the 1930s and was one of the foundations of the homebuilt movement in post-War Britain. This one was built in NSW between 1965-95 and is currently based at Locksley, Vic, from where it regularly flies all over the Australian eastern seaboard. It's powered by a VW and has an endurance of about 5 hours (range 300 NM). Good to see Peter out and about again!

This neat Kerang, Vic, based Pacer is actually one of the popular conversions from a Colt (nose-dragger). It was first registered, new, in Australia in 1963.

This is the traditional 'Armstrong Starter' method of getting a Tiger going, in this case for the long trip back to South Australia.

This aircraft has a long history, having been built during the war by DHA at Mascot and seeing RAAF service as A17-561. In 1946 it was de-mobbed and joined the civil Register with identities VH-AUM, VH-FAH(1) with the Illawarra Flying School, VH-TSA in 1956 and finally VH-LJM. It's currently based at historic Point Cook Aerodrome.

This NSW-based C172 was first registered in Australia in 1966. It's seen here departing the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's National Fly-in.

This is actually the second Tiger Moth to have been registered as VH-SSI, the first being part of the SuperSpread ag operation 1954-56. This one was built to an EATS order as DX835 (ntu) but diverted to the RAAF as A17-637. Post-War it became VH-RVG with the Royal Vic Aero Club, then VH-TPD, then VH-SSI(2) on 14 July 1962.
