Allegheny Airlines operated 31 BAC-111s, inheriting 26 when they bought Mohawk Airlines and acquiring 5 more from Braniff Airlines in 1972. This former Braniff aircraft came into the fleet March 21, 1972. It was unfortunately written off July 9, 1978 after landing from an unstable approach to Rochester-Monroe County Airport, NY. The aircraft crossed the threshold some 60 kts fast and touched down almost half way down the runway, coming to rest 728 feet past the end.

5 engine PIA 747, spare fifth engine under port wing (with a moulded cover over the fan). Grainy blow-up from distant shot on finals for Heathrow 28R. When the 747 was introduced, complete engines could only be carried by specialist freight aircraft, so a convenient way of moving them round the world was to hang them as shown. As wide-bodied freighters became commonplace this method declined.

This Allegheny BAC 111's first flight was July 15, 1968 and delivered to Mohawk Airlines a month later. Allegheny would become US Air in 1979 and N1127J was sold, along with 10 other 111s, to Kabo Air in 1990 as the type was phased out. Registered 5N-KBO, it was withdrawn by 1999 and scrapped.
