In 1956 Fokker signed a licensing agreement with US aircraft manufacturer Fairchild to build F-27s in the USA. While building F-27s, Fairchild independently developed the FH-227 featuring a 6 ft (1.83m) fuselage stretch. N2227L was the first of these off the production line. In 1956 Fokker signed a licensing agreement with US aircraft manufacturer Fairchild to build F-27s in the USA. While building F-27s, Fairchild independently developed the FH-227 featuring a 6 ft (1.83m) fuselage stretch. N2227L was the first of these off the production line.
