Not really the time to have been messing around experimenting with low shutter speeds to blur the background, but I guess it didn't seem so special then. Simple history - to Iraqi 13.5.66 and wfu Baghdad 6.77; all three Iraqi Tridents presumed b/u, although one fuselage survived till at least 2003 on a training ground

Making a 10L arrival at LHR in the old colours, this 1968-vintage 707 passed to the Argentine AF in 1.82. Studies as a result of the Falklands War that year led to her undergoing ELINT conversion by IAI in 1986, in the process changing serial from TC-93 to VR-21, and flew from El Palomar AB, west of Buenos Aires in a later grey colour scheme. Seen wfu and engineless in 2013

After her first 14 years spent with KLM as "Sir Isaac Newton", this DC-8 was sold to Viasa in 1975. Although bought by Aeronaves del Peru in 1984, she remained in store at Opa-locka as was broken up next year. We take for granted nowadays a choice of views to shoot thanks to zoom lenses, but it occurs to me that the angle here was forced by my old fixed 200mm

Seen drifting in for a very flat landing on LHR's 10L, this IL-18 entered service with LOT in 10.65 but was sold to Balkan as LZ-BEZ in 1992. She took up a Sharjah-based career in 1998 with various operators and was re-registered from UN-75002 to UP-I1802 in 12.08. Noted stored Berbera, Somalia in 2013 but not since

Another shot from the days when 10L/28R was bordered by little more than a low wooden fence. Rolling off the Weybridge line in 1.58, this V.800 was sold by BEA in 5.68 to BKS, renamed Northeast in 11.70. Merged back into BA 4.74 and sold along with many other sister-ships to BAF in 1.84 as "Viscount Churchill". Wfu 1987 and b/u 2.93 (remains to Hanningfield Metals)
