This aircraft is really the former RAAF A68-170, built in 1949. Never actually off RAAF charge, it has been with the RAAF Museum since 1970 and was restored to flying condition during 1989-99. Seen here after an 'interactive' display at the RAAF Museum.

Looking a bit faded now, this C-130A-50-LM was allocated the USAF serial 57-0507 for administrative purposes but was delivered new to the RAAF on 14 January 1959. It served all its career with 36 Squadron until retired in May 1975. Along with the RAAF's other C-130As, this aircraft was stored at RAAF Laverton between 1978 and 1994 while abortive attempts were made to sell these useful aircraft. On 22 May 1994, A97-214 was trucked the few miles to RAAF Point Cook to join the RAAF Museum collection.

This historic Huey saw action with 9 Squadron RAAF at the battle of Long Tan during the war in Vietnam. Allocated the USAF serial 63-13588, but delivered new to the RAAF on 12 Dec 1964 (incidentally, just a couple of weeks before I was born). Based at Vung Tau from mid-1966. Returned to Australia in April 1968 and used in the SAR role with 5 Squadron until retired in June 1984. Allocated to the School of Radio at RAAF Laverton until 1993, then transferred to the RAAF Museum and restored 2000-02.

This aircraft is actually a composite made from the wings and tail booms of A79-827 and the fuselage pod of A79-616. It was restored at RAAF East Sale in the 1990s for the RAAF Museum. A79-616 was one of 68 Vampire T Mk 35s delivered from 1957 to enable the RAAF pilot's course to include jet training. The Vampire was phased out in 1969. This aircraft is painted in the markings of the 'Telstars' aerobatic team from the Central Flying School at East Sale.

At the time of the photo, A3-22 was on loan to the RAAF Museum at Point Cook. It was owned by the Moorabbin Air Museum (now Australian National Aviation Museum) and in 2018 still is. A3-22 is under restoration for static display at Moorabbin airport. Prior to the museum acquiring it, it had been VH-ALV until damaged in a take-off accident at Braeside, near Melbourne on August 26, 1968. Photographer not known.
