The Donnet-Lévêque A was the first French seaplane and was inspired by the Curtiss floatplanes. It first flew on 15th March 1912 and attempted to fly to London on 9th August of that year though it had an accident at Boulogne. It is part of the Musee de l'Air et de l'Espace

Now in storage for the Musée de l'Air, only two of this development from the basic Potez 840 design were built - the other (CN-ALL) is said to remain derelict at Rabat in Morocco. Besides four Potez 840s, two 841s were also made, using PT-6A turboprops

A group of Free French pilots, the Normandie-Niemen Regiment, fought with distinction on the Eastern Front in WWII. They ultimately flew the Yak-3, one of the finest fighters of the war. Flown to France in June 1945, 37 Yak-3s even entered service with the French air force.
