The Condor IV is a 1952 twin-seat trainer development of the pre-war single-seat performance glider Condor I/II/III series. The Condor IV was built by Dittmar (2x), Schmetz (5x), Schleicher (7x) and Madsen in Argentina who built 18 kits for completion by gliding clubs. The photo shows a Schleicher-built one that was built in 1953 and registered as D-1092. It later went to the Deutsches Segelflugmuseum at Wasserkuppe where it was painted as "D-CONDOR" to commemorate the original Condor prototype, but that was a quite different single-seat Condor I.

This aircraft was built in Apr-1943 by Mraz. Its original registration is unknown but it later became D-6260. It was acquired by the Deutsches Segelflugmuseum at Wasserkuppe where it was painted in a late 1930s scheme as D-8-11. To be historically correct it should carry a swastika on the fin but that is legally not allowed in Germany. The Kranich was designed by Hans Jacobs and around 2000 Kranich and Kranich II (the Kranich III is a different design) were built by several manufacturers in a number of countries, and also by gliding clubs.

The VJ-23 is a fixed-wing hangglider designed by Volmer Jensen. Bruno Hall assembled a kit but totally redesigned the front fuselage to make it a glider with an enclosed canopy. It was built in 1970/1971 as the VJ-23H and had a substantially improved flight performance.. He later handed it over to the Deutsches Segelflugmuseum at Wasserkuppe.

After having visited the aviation exposition ILA Frankfurt in 1909, a group of 14 to 16 year old grammar school pupils became so enthusiastic that they founded the Flug-Sport-Vereinigung Darmstadt on 25-Aug-1909. They started to build several types of gliders and test flying them. On 22-Jul-1912 Hans Gutermuth flew their FSV-10 a distance of 840m in 1 min 50 sec at the Wasserkuppe, which at that time was a new glider world record. The photo shows the replica built by the Deutsches Segelflugmuseum.

The Ka-1 was the first design by Rudolf Kaiser who later became famous as designer with Schleicher. It first flew in 1952 and about 10 were amateur-built. This one was built as a Ka-1 glider by Kurt Schauer and Fritz Kraus in 1954. In 1957 it was converted by Kurt Schauer to a Ka-1M motorglider with a Lloyd LS-400 engine but due to problems in obtaining a permit the development was abandoned. In 1980 it went to the Deutsches Segelflugmuseum at Wasserkuppe

The Grunau Baby III was a further development of the Grunau Baby IIb with a slightly longer wing and fuselage and the addition of a wheel. Schleicher built a series of 21 from 1951 to 1955 and also Meschenmoser built a series. But many more were amateur built by gliding clubs. The Rhönadler was designed for Schleicher by Hans Jacobs and first flew in 1932. It became the first series-built high-performance glider in the world. Schleicher built 65 in total and an unknown number were built by gliding clubs and individuals. The last one built is the one shown here, built by Klaus Heyn from 1983 to 1986. Although only two prototypes of the HKS-1 were built, they had a big influence on the development of sailplanes after World War II because of a number of technical innovations and the very good results in contests. Although sharing the Mü-13 model number with the Akaflieg München Merlin, the Mü-13E Bergfalke is a very different aircraft. As glider flying was at the time prohibited in Germany, the prototype of the Mü-13E was built by the Segelfliegergruppe Jenbach in Austria. The first flight was made as OE-0138 on 05-Aug-1951. Although the aircraft on the photo is painted as OE-0138, the museum says that it was built by FSC Giebelstadt in 1955/56 so this is probably not the real OE-0138.
