It seems that after the renovation of Datangshan and its exhibits that some aircraft have been deemed surplus to requirements. This Mi-8 is one of them and languishes in the undergrowth off to the side of the museum's boundary.

There have been losses but mostly this was because the 12 was operating under such severe conditions that Hercs (or equivalent) would long since have become unservicable. I love this plane!
