This restored P-51 is displayed at the Museum of Flight in the colours and markings of Lieutenant Colonel Glenn T. Eagleston while he was CO of the 353rd FS, 354th FG based at Rosières-en-Haye, France. The exact identity of this Mustang is unknown but it is an ex-IAF machine probably acquired by Israel from surplus Royal Swedish Air Force stocks in 1952. The Swedes acquired nearly all of their 100 P-51s from war-surplus USAAF stockpiles in Germany at the end of WWII.

The Boeing 247 started a revolution in air transport, but it was overtaken by the DC-2, in the background, and only 75 examples were built. Now the DC-2 is in Boeing's patrimony and NC13711 is surrounded by Boeings in the Museum of Flight - from left to right, VC-137, 727, 747, 787, B-47 and B-29. Sorry for the shadow selfie.

The Boeing 80 was Boeing's first real airliner, first flown in 1928. Its biplane configuration was quite conservative.

It looks so much like a regular car that I almost ignored it! In car mode, this roadable aircraft was to tow its wings and tail unit. Though a clever design, it was ultimately impractical, like all the flying cars.

I'm not really interested in taking pictures of planes stored indoors...but on the flight across the Atlantic I was reading in one of the aviation mags a very interesting article about the female 'Night Witches' who flew these biplanes with extreme bravery and under appalling conditions on the Eastern Front during WWII. In order to maintain the element of surprise the pilots would cut the engine and glide over the German lines before jettisoning their bombs, restarting the engine and hopefully escaping.

A good case can be argued that the Cutlass was the worst arcraft ever operated by the USN, mainly as it was woefully underpowered. Nonetheless it is great that this airframe, relegated to ground instructional duties in 1957, is being restored at the Museum of Flight Restoration center.
