Although the nose of the Sabre Dog, containing an AN/APG-36 all-weather radar fitted in the black radome, is the most obvious difference compared to earlier F-86 variants there were other improvements including a longer and wider fuselage, a clamshell canopy and an enlarged vertical stab surface. In the end the F-86D had only 25% commonality with earlier Sabres. This example is on display at the super March Field Air Museum.
