Constructed in 1975, it is one of the first designs from the well known Chis Heintz. It is based at Lyncrest/MB (CJL5) in 2023. (In addition to being a base for float planes and land planes, the site was also home to a wild rice operation in the hangar behind. The duct leading away from it carried husks from the threshing machine and the Twin Bonanza beside the shack was apparently used to pick up rice from remote airstrips.)

Chris Heintz began to design and build his own aircraft, which he named the ZENITH, anagram of Heintz. In 1969 the Zenith made its first flight. Ultimately this resulted in the Zenair company, that was founded in 1974.

This Zenith 90 was an unusual visitor to the 1976 PFA Rally at Sywell, It was current in 2018
