Queensland was absorbed into Ansett-ANA. Keeping the airline as a separate entity was not necessary in Queensland where Ansett rival TAA was also able to operate interstate services. In other states separate subsidiary airlines helped preserve monopolies on interstate routes.

Ultimately running third-level air services with first-level airline costs saw Ansett withdraw from smaller towns in favour of commuter airlines started by air charter operators. The Fokker F27 became the smallest aircraft operated by Ansett.
