In late 1983, the governments of Canada and Ontario announced that they would support thew establishment of MBB Helicopter Canada in Fort Erie, Ontario which would have a "world product mandate" to assembled and sell the MBB Bo 105LS helicopter which was a "hot and high" version of the German designed light twin helicopter. C-GTGJ (msn 2002) was test flown in Germany and shipped to Canada in 1986 for certification and flight test work in Fort Erie. The Canadian Armed Forces also had an armed helicopter requirement so the aircraft was painted in camouflage. Exported to Chile in December 1992.
