Another Koolhoven aircraft in Finnish military service although this is a Desoutter licence-build. It was donated to Finland as an ambulance aircraft by the Danish Red Cross and flown to Malmi by Michael Hansen on 28 October 1941. Hansen had flown the aircraft in the great Melbourne Air Race in 1934. After the war it was briefly OH-TSA. See other photos by clicking on the construction number. Photo from: Finnish Air Force

Formerly OY-DOD, a participant in the London-Melbourne race, this Dessouter was donated to Finland as an ambulance aircraft and it served from 1941 until 1944 in the air force as DS-1. After the war it was restored by Torsti Tallgren and Armas Jylhä. It was registered as OH-TJA on 17 November 1947. Unfortunately it already crashed a few weeks later on 4 December.

With Daniel Jensen (left), Michael Hansen (right) flew his Desoutter to eighth place in the London to Melbourne Air Race. Later converted to ambulance in Denmark for donation to Finland following the outbreak of the Winter War. Not delivered until the autumn of 1941, the aircraft served in the Finnish air force as DS-1 until an accident in November 1944. Restored as OH-TJA in 1947, it crashed near Tampere within a few weeks on 4 December 1947.
